Royal Blue was actually a subsidiary of Southern and Western National who painted some of their coaches into Royal Blue livery for use on Royal Blue relief services. This apparently followed several complaints from passengers who had paid to travel on a Royal Blue coach but were presented with a green and cream relief coach instead.

Two examples are illustrated here - top left is EDV502D a Western National vehicle and top right LDV467F a Southern National vehicle both liveried as Royal Blue coaches.
