Welcome to The Local Transport History Library

Our FREE illustrated PDF booklets cover the period up to de-regulation in 1986 and contain a potted history and basic fleet list for quick reference. More detailed information can usually be obtained commercially elsewhere.

All our booklets are produced with the goodwill and co-operation of many individuals and organisations without whom this website would not be possible (see ‘Site Information’ for credits).

Please Note: The Local Transport History Library (LTHL) has no connection with the similarly named ‘Local Transport History’ website which is actually a pirated copy of Peter Gould’s original website that has been posted back onto the Internet without permission by one individual, who is fraudulently claiming copyright; it is also out of date. Peter Gould’s original histories and fleet lists have now been transferred to the LTHL site in illustrated PDF format and are regularly updated. There are now 300+  fleet lists and histories on the LTHL website - double the original site!
